Tony nominee Melissa Errico, who stars as Clara in Classic Stage Company's production of Passion, has been recovering from bronchitis in recent weeks and is currently on vocal rest. PS Classics has postponed recording sessions for the cast recording off-Broadway revival of the musical, which were previously scheduled to begin April 8. Understudy Amy Justman has stepped into the role of Clara for the time being.
Directed by John Doyle and also starring Ryan Silverman and Tony nominee Judy Kuhn, Passion opened at the off-Broadway theater on February 28, and was extended to play through April 19.
Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Passion follows handsome soldier Giorgio (Silverman), who becomes the object of obsessive love from Fosca (Kuhn), his colonel's chronically ill, bedridden cousin. The story unfolds as Giorgio sends and receives letters from his mistress, Clara (Errico).
